Carburetor heater kits are recommended for improved cold starting in locations where the temperatures falls below 0 Degrees C (32 Degrees F). Carburetor heaters prevent condensation and carburetor icing. The heater turns on when the temperature at the thermostat falls below approximately 4 Degrees C (40 Degrees F) and turns off when the temperature rises above approximately 16 Degrees C (60 Degrees F). The carburetor heater for models 6VSG, 8.5RES, 12RES/RESL, 14RESA/RESAL and 14RCA/RCAL mounts between the engine air cleaner and the carburetor. The carburetor heater for models 8/10/12RESV/RESVL uses an adaptor (included) to mount on the carburetor. The carburetor heater for models 20RESA/RESAL, 20RCA/RCAL, 20RESB, 20RESC/RESCL and 20RESD fits into a threaded opening on the carburetor.
